Preparing your personal tax return can be a troublesome task. Being able to sit down with someone who really needs help and work with them to complete their return is gratifying. My involvement in this community assistance program helps fulfill a portion of my mission to help others in their time of need.

I first became interested in Cottages of Hope and UIDAN when I went to a block meeting at the Marshall White center. Being on a fixed income with Social Security, I was interested in learning ways to make my money stretch further. The UIDAN pamphlet I got said that for every dollar I saved they would give me 3 dollars more. And the main requirement was that I attend a money saver class at Cottages of Hope for 4 sessions.
Cottages of Hope was located conveniently near to me and the classroom was large enough to accommodate the class. The program administrators were friendly and knowledgeable in the area of money management. The course instructor was Theresa Hunsaker of the Weber Extension service who was very knowledgeable and did a good job of presenting the material.
One of the areas which I wanted to learn more about was credit scores. Theresa devoted one class to credit scoring which answered many of my questions. Thanks to Cottages of Hope, I am now well on my way to saving $ 4,500.00 over the next 15 months, to be used towards a worthwhile goal by investing $62.50 a month of my money into an IDA account. I would heartily recommend “Cottages of Hope” to anyone who wants to stretch their money in today’s tight market.

My wife and I have benefited from the free, professional services and excellent expertise of Jeremy and Chris at the Cottages of Hope for the last couple of years. Due to the savings plan they helped us set up through UIDAN, we’re going to be able to pay for graduate school. They opened our eyes to the sensibility and simplicity of saving money.
Believe me when I say, if we can do it, then anybody can do it. Most of the time finances can be complicated and confusing, but after taking the free classes we saw it was much simpler to save than we’d previously thought.
